15-minute fringes!

Published on 26 November 2003

On 28th November 2003, data from Westerbork and Jodrell Bank were streamed directly from the VLBI formatter to Mk5 disks at JIVE at 64 Mbps, without local buffering. Data on source BL Lacertae were recorded between 14:35 and 14:50 UT. Immediately after recording was finished a correlation job was set up, and fringes were reported by 15:05 UT. The image above is an example fringe from that correlator run.
